Position Description

Job Title: Director of Finance
Reports To: President
Location: 334 Blackwell St. Suite G100, Durham, NC 27701
FTE/Classification: Full-time, Exempt, On-site 

Pay Range: $90,000-$110,000 

 

Primary Functions:
The Director of Finance plans, directs and carries out policies related to all phases of school operations and financial strategy and management. This individual engages with school management, the Board of Directors through the Board Finance Committee, and external service providers on financial and operational matters including:

  • Financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
  • Banking and investment management relationships
  • Legal matters
  • Contracts
  • Insurance
  • Human resources
  • Facilities operations, planning, and management
  • Other duties as assigned by the President
 

Organization Summary:
Cristo Rey Research Triangle High School is an affordable Catholic high school in Durham, North Carolina. Our mission is to deliver a career-focused college preparatory education for students with limited economic resources. Integrating rigorous academic curricula with four years of real-world work experience, we are growing from grades 9-11 with 210 students to serving 400 students in grades 9-12, supported by a robust graduate program. Currently, with a $4.5 million budget, we project an $8 million budget at full enrollment.

 

Cristo Rey Research Triangle High School is part of the expanding national Cristo Rey Network. Each student works one day per week in an entry-level corporate job to develop professional skills while earning half the cost of their education. The Network includes 39 schools nationwide, serving over 12,000 students and having over 25,000 graduates. The Network aims for 70% of graduates to achieve a college degree within six years of high school graduation.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management, Budgeting, Forecasting, and Reporting:
    Develop and maintain a financial management strategy ensuring sound management of the school’s financial resources, operating and capital reserves, and liquidity.
  • Banking and Investment Management Relationships:
    Maintain effective relationships with banking and investment management organizations, overseeing the investment of board-designated funds.
  • Legal Matters:
    Maintain relationships with legal service providers and participate in negotiating legal services as necessary.
  • Contracts:
    Facilitate the review of key contracts, engaging legal counsel when necessary.
  • Insurance:
    Maintain relationships with insurance brokerage providers and communicate the status of insurance coverages and claims to the Board Finance Committee.
  • Human Resources:
    Oversee recruitment, onboarding, benefits, compensation, policy, employee relations, performance, training & development, OSHA, legal compliance, and administration.
  • Facilities Operations, Planning, and Management:
    Oversee daily operations, IT, security, maintenance, cleaning, construction projects, space planning, and facilities-related financial matters.
  • Other Duties as Assigned:
    • Report to the President and serve as a member of the Leadership Team.
    • Provide input on operations, policies, budget, and other issues.
    • Serve as a member of the Board's Finance Committee.
 

Experience Requirements:

  • Ten or more years of experience in finance and executing and overseeing key operations in an organization with at least 50 employees.
  • Financial management experience in an organization with an annual budget of no less than $7.5 million.
  • Specific experience in human resources, legal matters, and insurance policies.
  • Practical understanding of effective facilities management.
  • Evidence of effective interface with a board of directors and participation on a management leadership team.
  • CPA or equivalent certification.
  • Prior not-for-profit experience.
  • Commitment and capacity to connect with Cristo Rey Research Triangle's mission.
  • Ability to contribute as a leader and team member towards common goals.
  • Energy and passion for a Cristo Rey model high school.
  • Experience with Ignatian spirituality and Jesuit education is preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, preferred.

Job Title: Corporate Work Study Training Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Corporate Work Study Training Coordinator interacts with students, school personnel, and business leaders to execute the transformative Cristo Rey Work Study Program model alongside other CWSP staff. The primary duties of this role include teaching students job skills, providing orientation and guidance to job partners, and leading the coordination of student training and professional development. As the founding Training Coordinator, this role will collaborate with our partner Youth.Work.Connect to develop, test, and revise a curriculum that guides the

formation of our student workers.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include, But are Not Limited To:

• Partner with Youth.Work.Connect on the development and implementation of a four-year career readiness curriculum that aligns with the continuous growth needs of students and the work skill needs of corporate partners.

• Define and implement desired learning outcomes and assessment metrics, tools, and schedules.

• Create, implement, assess, and continuously improve an effective plan for instruction that includes rigorous, engaging, high-impact lessons.

• Responsible for Department of Labor Safety Training.

• Contribute to the design of Supervisor Training, including updating the Supervisor Training Materials for Corporate Sponsors.

• Support adult learning for both CWS Supervisors and CRRT faculty.

• Participate in professional development activities with the academic team to enable instructional alignment to the CRRT academic vision.

• Align instructional practice with CRRT policies and procedures, including: dress code, code of conduct, and assessment.

• Train student workers and prepare them for job placements and support the planning and execution of

training activities for non-deployed students as necessary; assist with management of morning check-in

with daily dress code and attendance checks, daily announcements, and bus dismissal.

 

Qualifications:

A successful candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• A bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or related field

• Professional work experience as a teacher and/or counselor in a high school, higher education setting, or

adult learning context.

• Understanding of corporate work environments with success in managing multiple work projects.

• Experience successfully defining learning outcomes, developing curriculum aligned with learning

outcomes, and assessing curriculum in relation to learning outcomes.

• Exceptional organizational, time management, attention to detail, and administrative skills.

• Passion for the mission of Cristo Rey Research Triangle High School, including CRRT’s Jesuit Catholic

identity and the model of the Cristo Rey Network Vision and Mission.

• Sensitivity to the ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds of students, family, and staff.

• Collaborative and open to growth.

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is helpful, but not required.

• High level of organization and the ability to prioritize tasks.

 

Compensation:

Range $50,000-$55,000. Generous Benefits Package including Medical/Dental/Vision with a shared premium cost and a retirement plan.

Cristo Rey Research Triangle High School Bus Driver

Cristo Rey Research Triangle High School is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Bus Driver for our 14 passenger buses. Please see the position profile below for qualifications and contact information.

Qualifications
Successful candidates must:
  • Have a valid U.S. Driver's License.
  • Complete and maintain updated criminal and children's protective clearance before hire.
  • Be able to provide DMV records.
  • Be authorized to work legally in the U.S.
  • Be at least 25 years old.
  • Be available for morning and afternoon shifts, Monday – Friday.
  •         
Preference will be given to candidates who have:
  • Experience working with High School students and a diverse student population
  • Experience with a GPS.
  • A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred but not required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, not required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Transports students in compliance with all safety regulations and rules of the road as established by the state of North Carolina
  • Shifts can be set as morning, afternoon, or split shifts, so PERFECT for part-time or retired persons.
  • Picks students up from designated bus stops and brings them to school. (6:15-7:45 a.m.)
  • Takes students to and from work (8:15-10:00 a.m.) (2:00– 4:00 p.m.)
  • Drops students off at designated bus stops (4:00-5:00 p.m.)
  • Adhere to strict time schedules and routes for boarding, dropping off, and picking up students from neighborhoods and Corporate Partners as directed by the Manager.
  • Submits to and passes appropriate background checks and drug/alcohol testing as deemed appropriate
 
The pay is $16.50/hr. This is a Part-Time position.

  • Be authorized to work legally in the U.S.
  • Have at least 2 years of college experience or another equivalent. 
 

Preference will be given to candidates who have: 

  • Experience working with High School students and a diverse student population
  • Experience working in an educational environment
  • Flexibility to come in with less than 24/hr notice. 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, not required.

  • Supervise a classroom of up to 35 students and monitor their behavior
  • Implement substitute lesson plans left by the teacher 
  • Our school day runs from 7:50-4:00 pm, but we are willing to contract per class period 

 

The pay is $25/hr, up to $130/day. This is a Part-Time position and contracted daily.
