The Alfred & Antonette Cournoyer Fund

Honoring the memory of two remarkable souls, Alfred and Antonette Cournoyer, The Alfred and Antonette Cournoyer Fund for Agricultural Studies stands as a testament to their unwavering love for the land and their lifelong commitment to its prosperity. Their journey began as newlyweds in the 1940s, cultivating a small patch of 12 acres with just a single horse, and through perseverance and dedication, they blossomed into the visionaries of modern agriculture.

Alfred and Antonette's story unfolded with humble beginnings, raising chickens and cultivating strawberries and vegetables. Over the years, their hard work and passion led to the creation of a homesite store where the people of a quaint Massachusetts town could savor the bounties of their labor. They nurtured their two children, Lawrence and Blanche Marie, instilling in them the same values of diligence and love for the land.

Today, the Cournoyer Farm thrives in its third generation, a testament to the enduring spirit of the Cournoyer family. The farm has expanded to several hundred acres under the guidance of Alfred, a U-Mass graduate, and his family. It boasts state-of-the-art features like engineered water-management systems, numerous greenhouses, modern equipment, and a diverse range of vegetable and flower crops. Amidst the fields, a harmonious wildlife habitat flourishes.

The Cournoyer Fund envisions a future where agriculture flourishes sustainably, feeding the world through abundance. We believe that the future lies in nurturing bright minds, inspiring them to explore the multifaceted dimensions of modern agriculture. We encourage students at Cristo Rey Research High School to embark on a journey of discovery, understanding, and innovation within the agricultural industry.
